The Carl Sandburg College volleyball team remained unbeaten in Arrowhead Conference play with a 25-10, 25-19, 25-13 sweep of Kishwaukee on Tuesday night at John M. Lewis Gymnasium.

The Chargers (11-4, 3-0) had little trouble in winning for the fifth time in their last six matches, taking care of the Kougars (10-10, 1-2) in just more than an hour.

Sophomore Peyton Bowman (Sciota, Ill./West Prairie) posted a .737 hitting percentage while collecting a team-high 15 kills and 1.5 blocks for Sandburg. The Chargers also had a strong night from sophomore Tearaney Eads (Lincoln, Ill./Lincoln), who added 13 kills on 29 attacks in addition to eight digs.

Sophomore setter Cora Vyhnanek (Colchester, Ill./West Prairie) handed out all 31 of the Chargers’ assists. Sophomore libero Emily Bloomer (Burlington, Iowa/Burlington) picked up a team-leading nine digs for Sandburg, and freshman Kelsey Hobson (Bartonville, Ill./Limestone) had seven.

Sandburg rattled off 11 straight points on Vyhnanek’s serve to take a 24-8 first-set lead. Down 19-18 in the second, Bowman put down a kill that sparked a 7-0 run to close the set with Bloomer at the service line.

The Chargers never trailed in the third, using another 7-0 run to go up 19-7. Freshman Mackenzie Connell (Monmouth, Ill./Monmouth-Roseville) had an ace while serving in that stretch.
